Summary

The Airflow QuietAir QT100HT is their third fan in their award-winning QuietAir range and is most suitable in bathrooms, en-suites and toilets.

This award-winning axial fan can either be surface mounted or recessed into ceilings or walls and provides a decent maximum flow rate of around 90 m3/h, which is approximately 25 l/s.

The Airflow team are known for their cutting-edge designs (as seen with their iCON 30 fan) and they certainly did not stop here with this one! Also, this extractor has built-in a backdraft shutter flap, a humidity sensor, a configurable run-on timer, and can be installed in any bathroom zone – making this truly an excellent fan and absolutely packed with value!

  • Very quiet from 25dB
  • 3-Year Warranty
  • Backdraft flap
  • Maximum Flow Rate: 25 litres per second (90 m3/hr)

  • Complies with the latest Building Regulations
  • Rated to IP45
Airflow QT100HT

Extraction Rate

The Airflow QT100HT has a max extraction flow rate of 90 m3/hr, which is around 25 litres per second. This extraction rate is, therefore, more suitable for small-to-average sized applications e.g. toilets, en-suites, bathrooms etc.

This extractor fan also comes with two modes – low and high, both with different extraction rates. Here is a table breaking down each modes flow rate:

Power Consumption

The QuietAir QT100HT fan, as seen above in the table, has a max power consumption rate of around 9W on the high mode and just 5W on the low mode. This extractor fan is super energy efficient with a Specific Fan Power (SFP) of just 0.24W/l/s!

In addition to its ultra-low power usage, the QT100HT features a delayed start timer, that reduces any unnecessary use – like any late-night trips to the bathroom etc. This is a great feature as it means this fan is, even more, energy-efficient.

Noise Level

The Airflow QT00HT runs at a super-quiet noise level of just 25dB(A) on low mode and 30dB(A) on high mode, as indicated in the table earlier. For an extractor fan to be considered quiet, it should be 30 decibels or less – which makes this fan especially quiet, especially on the low mode.

Furthermore, in 2014, Airflow’s QuietAir QT100 range was awarded the QuietMark by the Noise Abatement Society, solidifying that this extractor fan is one of the lowest sounding around!

Design

As well as running quietly, and utilising a small amount of energy, the QT100HT also comprises an innovative room refresh module (ultimately an interval timer) that can be adjusted for long-term regular ventilation. This can be configured to auto-start at 0, 8, 12, or 24 hours.

This fan has a back draught shutter flap and an integral flow straightener which provides excellent airflow regulation. The effective impeller allows the flow of up to 60m3/hr to pass through up to 12m of rigid ducting – which means 90-degree twists and turns as well!

The motor inside is a long-life ball-bearing one, and Airflow promises that it should last for at least 40,000 hours of run time, making sure your fan will do its job and well for a long time.

Airflow QT100HT Internal Components

Overrun Timer

As you may have gathered by the letter “T” in the model number, this unit features not one but three configurable timer modules. On top of the delayed-start timer and room refresh interval timer discussed earlier, it also has an overrun timer too, which can be configured to 6, 10, 15, or 21 minutes.

In order to adjust any of these timers, where it’s the; Overrun Timer, Delayed-start Timer and the Room Refresh Timer, there are DIP switches and jumpers inside the unit – for more information, see the nearby QuietAir Settings video.

Humidity Sensor

Unlike the Airflow QT100T, the QT100HT does come with a humidistat, which is adjustable from 60% RH to 90% RH. Having a humidistat is perfect for those that find their bathroom or shower is fairly humid for longer periods of time. In addition, this fan is quite handy because it also has adjustable timer control options as well.

Warranty

This extractor fan by Airflow comes with a 3-year warranty, which is pretty standard. Make sure you check out their help section if you have any issues after you purchase.

Verdict: Should You Buy The QT100HT?

If you’re after a quiet, low-profile extractor fan, that is both energy-efficient and has a good extraction rate – you definitely need to consider this fan. All of the QT100 series – including the QT100HT, were rated very quiet by a group of acoustic specialists from Quiet Mark, an independent global certification programme, that appraises the quietest products around the world, in many different categories. If you made it this far in the review then I am guessing you think you should get this fan as well!

With that said, if you feel you don’t need a humidity sensor and want to save some money, you should definitely check out our Airflow QT100T review.

Summary

The Airflow iCON 15 is perfect for bathrooms, shower rooms, toilets, en-suites, and, utility rooms.

It can either be recessed into the ceiling or the wall and is very stylish yet unobtrusive – even in the smallest of spaces. If you prefer to surface mount the unit, a narrow “skirt” is supplied.

This quiet yet powerful fan delivers an extraction rate of 19 l/s while consuming just 9.4Watts.

The iCON 15 also features a sleek iris shutter, designed to prevent back draughts, operate quietly and also to help reduce any noise ingress.

Main Features

  • Our Rating: 9.3/10
  • SFP: 0.49W/l/s
  • Maximum Sound Level: 28.8dB
  • 3 Year Warranty
  • Complete with silent shutter
  • Maximum Flow Rate: 19 litres per second (69 m3/hr)
  • A selection of optional control modules available
  • Complies with latest Building Regulations
  • Rated to IPX4
Airflow iCON 15 Silent Close Shutter

Extraction Rate

The Airflow iCON 15 has a max extraction flow rate of 69m3/hr, which is around 19 litres per second. Being the first extractor fan in the Airflow iCON series, this extraction rate, while decent, will be suitable for smaller applications e.g. en-suite, toilet, shower room etc. If you feel you need a more powerful extraction rate, you should consider the iCON 30 or iCON 60, but do keep in mind these will be a bit more expensive.

Power Consumption

This iCON 15 axial fan has a maximum consumption rate of just 9.4 Watts. It also has a great Specific Fan Power (SFP) Efficiency Rate of 0.49W/l/s.

Noise Level

The Airflow iCON 15 outputs a low sound level of 28.8dB at 3m, which is fairly quiet, especially for a moderately powerful extractor like this one. The standard for a quiet extractor fan is  30dB so this flow rate is pretty good.

Design

This extractor fan was created from quality ABS thermoplastics. It is refreshing to see a circular design where most are usually square! The iCON 15 also has cantilever fixing lugs meaning it can be installed on uneven surfaces if required.

One of the reasons this fan is so popular is due to the sleek iris shutter. The iris shutter is activated by the brown actuator, which heats up and pushes onto a white plastic clip, which results in the iris shutter opening. With that said, all of these components need to be aligned correctly during installation – especially when you fit the fan cover onto the fan. This is because if it is done incorrectly, it may seem like the fan itself is not working properly.

Furthermore, Airflow also has four great easy-wipe cover choices for the iCON 15 to match your bathroom’s interior; Silver, Anthracite, Sandstone, and even Chrome!

Overrun Timer

This model does not have a run-on timer feature. If this is something you’re after, you will need to get the Airflow TM iCON Plug-in Timer Module as well. It is very quick and simple to install and would be much cheaper to replace than the whole fan itself.

Alternatively, you can buy the module and the iCON 15 together here.

Humidity Sensor

The iCON 15 does NOT have a humidity sensor or humidistat. If this is something you want, you will need to get the Airflow HTM iCON Plug-in Humidity & Timer Module and hook it up. This one is handy because it also has a timer control option as well.

Alternatively, you can buy them together here.

Other Control Modules

One great feature of the iCON series is the optionable control modules. While you have to purchase these separately, they allow great customisation for whatever application you are going for. Below is a table that details each module along with their respective product code.

Warranty

This extractor fan by Airflow comes with a 3-year warranty, which is pretty standard. Make sure you check out their help section if you have any issues after you purchase.

Pros and Cons

  • Customers have said installation is quick and easy.
  • Provides a good extraction rate whilst consuming just 9.4W.
  • This model is covered by a 3-year warranty by Airflow.
  • Extracts 19 litres of airflow per second.
  • Stylish and nonintrusive design.
  • The control modules are sold separately.

Verdict: Should You Buy The iCON 15?

There are a number of great reasons why you should get the iCON 15. First off, the optional modules are easy to install and connect due to their “snap-in” design. The silent iris shutter gives the iCON 15 a very unique appearance while being completely practical. It is also incredibly easy to install. If you’re after a modern-looking, unique bathroom fan, with a decent extraction rate, that provides a no-hassle install – then you should definitely go for this fan.

If you find you would like a more powerful fan, you should check out our Airflow iCON 30 review, as well as our Airflow iCON 60 review.

Summary

The Airflow Icon 30 is perfect for bathrooms, shower rooms, toilets, en-suites, and, utility rooms.

It can either be recessed into the ceiling or the wall and is very stylish yet unobtrusive – even in the smallest of spaces. If you prefer to surface mount the unit, a narrow “skirt” is supplied.

This quiet, yet powerful, fan uses a combination of centrifugal and axial fan technology to deliver an excellent extraction rate of 32 l/s while just 13W.

The iCON 30 also features a sleek iris shutter, designed to prevent back draughts, operate quietly and also to help to reduce any noise ingress.

Main Features

  • Our Rating: 9.3/10
  • SFP: 0.38W/l/s
  • Maximum Sound Level: 34.5dB
  • Ductable for short runs. Silent shutter
  • Maximum Flow Rate: 32 litres per second (118 m3/hr)
  • A selection of optional control modules available
  • Complies with latest Building Regulations (F1 ventilation)
  • Rated to IPX4
Airflow iCON 30 Review

Extraction Rate

The Airflow iCON 30 has an excellent max extraction flow rate of 118m3/hr, which is around 32 litres per second, possible thanks to its mixed flow impeller. This model is the second version in Airflow’s iCON range and therefore is more powerful than the iCON 15 but less powerful than the iCON 60, in terms of power and extraction flow rate.

Power Consumption

This mixed flow fan has a maximum consumption rate of just 13 Watts. It also has a great SFP Efficiency Rate of 0.38W/l/s, ensuring that this extractor runs smoothly and efficiently.

Noise Level

The Airflow iCON 30 outputs a low sound level of 34.5dB at 3m. The noise level that is deemed quiet for extractor fans is around 30dB, which isn’t too far off the mark. This fan is fairly quiet, especially for such a powerful extraction rate.

Design

This great extractor fan was manufactured from quality thermoplastics. Most extractor fans are square so it is refreshing to see this circular design! The iCON 30 also features cantilever fixing lugs – meaning it can be installed on uneven surfaces if necessary.

One of the main reasons this fan is so sought after is due to the modish iris shutter that is also functional as it helps prevent backdrafts. It’s activated by the brown actuator, which warms up and propels onto a white plastic clip, which leads to the iris shutter opening up. On this note, all of these pieces need to align correctly when you are installing them – especially when you place the cover onto the fan itself. This is due to the fact that, if it is carried out incorrectly, your fan will seem like it isn’t not working correctly.

To top this off, Airflow also has three great cover options to match your bathrooms interior; Silver, Anthracite and Sandstone!

The Different Airflow iCON 30 Covers

Overrun Timer

This model does not have a run-on timer feature. If this is something you’re after, you will need to get the Airflow TM iCON Plug-in Timer Module as well. It is very quick and easy to install and is much less expensive than replacing the whole fan.

Alternatively, you can get them both together here.

Humidity Sensor

The iCON 30 does NOT have a humidity sensor or humidistat. If this is something you want, you will need to get the Airflow HTM iCON Plug-in Humidity & Timer Module and connect it. This one is handy because it also has a timer control option as well.

Otherwise, you can get them both together here.

Other Control Modules

A top feature of the iCON range is the control modules available. Even though you will need to purchase these separately, they allow great customisation for whatever application you have. Below is a table that explains each module along with its respective product code.

Warranty

This extractor fan by Airflow includes a 3-year warranty. Make sure you check out their help section if you have any issues after purchasing.

  • This model is covered by a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Extracts 32 litres of airflow per second.
  • Stylish and contemporary design.
  • Control modules are sold separately.

Verdict: Should You Buy The iCON 30?

There are lots of excellent reasons why you need to get the iCON 30. First of all, the optional control modules are simple to install thanks to their “snap-in” design. The sleek and silent iris shutter gives the iCON 30 a very quirky look while also being fully functional and useful.

Summary

The Airflow QuietAir QT100T is their second fan in their award-winning QuietAir series and is most effective in bathrooms, en-suites and toilets.

This award-winning axial fan can either be recessed or surface mounted into ceilings or walls and delivers a decent maximum flow rate of around 90 m3/h, which is roughly 25 l/s.

The team at Airflow are known for their futuristic designs (as seen with their iCON 15 fan) and they certainly did not stop here with this one. In addition, this fan comes complete with a backdraft shutter flap, an adjustable run-on timer, and can be installed in any bathroom zone – making this truly a great fan!

Main Features

  • Our Rating: 9.2/10
  • SFP: 0.24W/l/s
  • Super quiet from 25dB
  • 3-Year Warranty
  • Backdraft flap
  • Maximum Flow Rate: 25 litres per second (90 m3/hr)
  • Includes delay start to avoid unnecessary usage
  • Multiple speed options
  • Adjustable overrun timer
  • Extremely energy efficient
  • Complies with latest Building Regulations
  • Rated to IP45
Airflow QT100T

Extraction Rate

The Airflow QT100T has a max extraction flow rate of 90 m3/hr, which is around 25 litres per second. This extraction rate is, therefore, more suitable for small-to-medium sized applications e.g. bathroom, toilet, en-suites etc.

This extractor fan comes with two modes, both with differing extraction rates. Below is a table detailing each mode:

Power Consumption

The QT100T fan, as seen in the table above, has a max consumption rate of around 9 Watts – and this is on the high mode! This extractor fan is exceedingly energy efficient with a Specific Fan Power (SFP) of just 0.24W/l/s!

In addition to its very low Wattage, the QT100T features a delayed start timer, that reduces any unnecessary activation – like short trips to the bathroom during the night,  for example. This is an excellent feature as it means even more energy efficiency.

Noise Level

The Airflow QT00T outputs a super-quiet sound level of just 25dB(A) on Low mode and 30dB(A) on High mode, as indicated in the table above. For an extractor fan to be considered quiet, it needs to be around 30 decibels or less – which makes this fan exceedingly quiet.

Furthermore, the QuietAir QT100 series was awarded the QuietMark by the Noise Abatement Society in 2014, truly confirming that this extractor fan is one of the quietest around!

Design

In addition to running very quietly, and using a low amount of energy, the QT100T also features an innovative room refresh option (essentially an interval timer) that can be configured for long-term regular ventilation. This can be configured to auto-start at 0, 8, 12, or 24 hours.

This fan comes complete with an integral flow straightener and back draught flap for maximum efficiency. The high-efficiency impeller allows the flow of up to 60m3/hr through up to 12m of rigid ducting – which includes 90-degree bends too!

The motor itself is a long-life ball-bearing motor, and Airflow claims it will last at least 40,000 hours of run time, ensuing your fan will work well for a long time.

Airflow QT100T Internal Components

Overrun Timer

As the “T” in the model number suggests, this unit features not one but three adjustable timer modules. As well as the room refresh interval timer and the delayed-start timer mentioned above, it also has a run-on timer. The run-on timer can be adjusted to 6, 10, 15 or 21 minutes.

In order to configure any of the timers; Overrun Timer, Delayed-start Timer and the Room Refresh Timer, there are DIP switches and jumpers inside the unit.

Humidity Sensor

The QT100T does NOT have a humidity sensor or humidistat. If this is something you need, you will have to get the Airflow QT100HT instead. This one is great because it also has a timer control option as well.

Warranty

This extractor fan by Airflow comes complete with a 3-year warranty. Make sure you check out their help section if you have any issues after you buy.

Summary

The Airflow iCON 60 is the biggest and most powerful extractor fan in their iCON series. This fan is extremely effective in kitchens larger bathrooms and utility rooms.

It can either be recessed or surface mounted into ceilings or walls and is very unique while also unassuming. If you would rather surface mount this unit, a narrow “skirt” is provided.

This mighty fan delivers an excellent maximum flow rate of around 280 m3/h, which is roughly 78 l/s.

The iCON 60 also features a futuristic iris shutter, designed to stop back draughts, operate silently and also helps reduce any noise ingress.

Main Features

  • Our Rating: 9.2/10
  • Maximum Sound Level: 41.6dB
  • 3-Year Warranty
  • Silent backdraft shutter
  • Maximum Flow Rate: 78 litres per second (280 m3/hr)
  • Optional control modules are available
  • Complies with latest Building Regulations
  • Rated to IPX4

Airflow iCON 60 Silent Iris Shutter

Extraction Rate

The Airflow iCON 60 has a max extraction flow rate of 280m3/hr, which is around 78 litres per second. Being the last extractor fan in the Airflow iCON range, this extraction rate will be suitable for bigger applications e.g. bigger bathrooms, kitchens, utility rooms etc. If you feel you need a less powerful extraction rate, you should consider the iCON 30 or even the iCON 15, which will also mean a saving in price as well.

Power Consumption

This iCON 60 mixed flow fan has a max consumption rate of around 66.3 Watts. While this is not the lowest wattage around, you need to remember that this fan packs a punch and is designed for larger applications.

Noise Level

The Airflow iCON 60 outputs a moderately low sound level of 41.6dB at 3m, which is fairly quiet, especially for a super-powerful extractor fan like this one. It is important to keep in mind that although this sound level might seem higher than others, this fan is very powerful and intended for bigger areas.

Design

This extractor fan was created from quality ABS thermoplastics. It is refreshing to see a circular design where most are usually square! The iCON 60 also has cantilever fixing lugs meaning it can be installed on uneven surfaces if required.

One of the many reasons we love this fan is because of the modern iris shutter, which is designed to reduce backdrafts. This iris shutter is initiated via the brown actuator, which warms up and as a result pushes onto a white plastic clip, which opens the iris shutter. One important thing to note is, all the components must be aligned correctly during installation – especially when fitting the fan cover. Otherwise, it may seem like the fan is not working properly, if installed incorrectly.

Furthermore, Airflow also offers three easy-wipe cover options for the iCON 60 to match your room’s interior. These include; Silver, Anthracite, and Sandstone!

The Different Airflow iCON 60 Covers

Overrun Timer

This model does not have a run-on timer feature. If this is something you’d like, you will need to get the Airflow TM iCON Plug-in Timer Module as well. It is very quick and simple to install, and would be much cheaper to replace than the whole fan itself.

Humidity Sensor

The iCON 60 does NOT have a humidity sensor or humidistat. If this is something you want, you will need to get the Airflow HTM iCON Plug-in Humidity & Timer Module and hook it up. This one is handy because it also has a timer control option as well.

Other Control Modules

One great feature of the iCON series is the optionable control modules. While you have to buy these separately, they allow great customisation for whatever application you are going for. Below is a table that details each module along with their respective product code.

Warranty

This extractor fan by Airflow comes with a 3-year warranty, which is pretty standard. Make sure you check out their help section if you have any issues after you purchase.
