Summary

The Airflow QuietAir QT100HT is their third fan in their award-winning QuietAir range and is most suitable in bathrooms, en-suites and toilets.

This award-winning axial fan can either be surface mounted or recessed into ceilings or walls and provides a decent maximum flow rate of around 90 m3/h, which is approximately 25 l/s.

The Airflow team are known for their cutting-edge designs (as seen with their iCON 30 fan) and they certainly did not stop here with this one! Also, this extractor has built-in a backdraft shutter flap, a humidity sensor, a configurable run-on timer, and can be installed in any bathroom zone – making this truly an excellent fan and absolutely packed with value!

Extraction Rate

The Airflow QT100HT has a max extraction flow rate of 90 m3/hr, which is around 25 litres per second. This extraction rate is, therefore, more suitable for small-to-average sized applications e.g. toilets, en-suites, bathrooms etc.

This extractor fan also comes with two modes – low and high, both with different extraction rates. Here is a table breaking down each modes flow rate:

Power Consumption

The QuietAir QT100HT fan, as seen above in the table, has a max power consumption rate of around 9W on the high mode and just 5W on the low mode. This extractor fan is super energy efficient with a Specific Fan Power (SFP) of just 0.24W/l/s!

In addition to its ultra-low power usage, the QT100HT features a delayed start timer, that reduces any unnecessary use – like any late-night trips to the bathroom etc. This is a great feature as it means this fan is, even more, energy-efficient.

Noise Level

The Airflow QT00HT runs at a super-quiet noise level of just 25dB(A) on low mode and 30dB(A) on high mode, as indicated in the table earlier. For an extractor fan to be considered quiet, it should be 30 decibels or less – which makes this fan especially quiet, especially on the low mode.

Furthermore, in 2014, Airflow’s QuietAir QT100 range was awarded the QuietMark by the Noise Abatement Society, solidifying that this extractor fan is one of the lowest sounding around!

Design

As well as running quietly, and utilising a small amount of energy, the QT100HT also comprises an innovative room refresh module (ultimately an interval timer) that can be adjusted for long-term regular ventilation. This can be configured to auto-start at 0, 8, 12, or 24 hours.

This fan has a back draught shutter flap and an integral flow straightener which provides excellent airflow regulation. The effective impeller allows the flow of up to 60m3/hr to pass through up to 12m of rigid ducting – which means 90-degree twists and turns as well!

The motor inside is a long-life ball-bearing one, and Airflow promises that it should last for at least 40,000 hours of run time, making sure your fan will do its job and well for a long time.

Airflow QT100HT Internal Components

Overrun Timer

As you may have gathered by the letter “T” in the model number, this unit features not one but three configurable timer modules. On top of the delayed-start timer and room refresh interval timer discussed earlier, it also has an overrun timer too, which can be configured to 6, 10, 15, or 21 minutes.

In order to adjust any of these timers, where it’s the; Overrun Timer, Delayed-start Timer and the Room Refresh Timer, there are DIP switches and jumpers inside the unit – for more information, see the nearby QuietAir Settings video.

Humidity Sensor

Unlike the Airflow QT100T, the QT100HT does come with a humidistat, which is adjustable from 60% RH to 90% RH. Having a humidistat is perfect for those that find their bathroom or shower is fairly humid for longer periods of time. In addition, this fan is quite handy because it also has adjustable timer control options as well.

Warranty

This extractor fan by Airflow comes with a 3-year warranty, which is pretty standard. Make sure you check out their help section if you have any issues after you purchase.

Verdict: Should You Buy The QT100HT?

If you’re after a quiet, low-profile extractor fan, that is both energy-efficient and has a good extraction rate – you definitely need to consider this fan. All of the QT100 series – including the QT100HT, were rated very quiet by a group of acoustic specialists from Quiet Mark, an independent global certification programme, that appraises the quietest products around the world, in many different categories. If you made it this far in the review then I am guessing you think you should get this fan as well!

With that said, if you feel you don’t need a humidity sensor and want to save some money, you should definitely check out our Airflow QT100T review.
