It boasts Xpelair’s Ghost™ patented Air Movement Technology and is part of their Simply Silent™ range of near-silent extraction fans.

Extraction Rate

The Xpelair C4TS has two airflow rate speeds, which are selectable during installation. The options are 15 litres per second at low speed, or 21 litres per second at high speed. When operating at a higher speed, noise level is not affected too much and the extractor remains near-silent.

In order to configure your chosen speed, you simply turn the dial underneath to the desired speed.

Power Consumption

In terms of power consumption, the C4TS has an electrical power rating of 6.3 – 7W. The average extractor fan has an electrical power rating of between 5 – 36W, making the Xpelair C4TS highly energy efficient as well as economical to use. Additionally, an integral hour run meter shows exactly how long the fan has been running.

Noise Level

Perhaps the most striking feature of the extraction fan is its near-silent running sound and lack of noise emission. As you may know, when an extraction fan runs, noise is emitted by both the interior motor and the movement of air through the duct. The Xpelair C4TS combats this with the use of the company’s patented Ghost™ Air Movement Technology: a combination of long-life silent motors and precision-engineered parts to mitigate mechanical noise, with advanced airflow management that removes irregular air flow paths and turbulence.

Design

In terms of design, the fan is sleek and sophisticated. At just 4″/100mm in length, it is small, but powerful. The fascias are finished in cool white and have a square design; this gives the fan a modern look and suits an array of aesthetic preferences.

All of the company’s products are manufactured in a state-of-the-art facility in Great Britain. The C4TS is mainly made from, like other models in Xpelair’s Simply Silent™ series, high gloss ABS. ABS material is renowned for its high tensile strength and corrosion resistance; this makes the fan both durable and easy to clean.

Overrun Timer

The Xpelair C4TS Simply Silent Contour fan includes a run-on timer that is fully adjustable when installed. It can be set from 30 seconds to 30 minutes after the unit has been switched off. Alternatively, a pull cord can be fitted to switch the fan on and off on demand. Another option is to opt for the timer and a built-in humidistat to automatically regulate humidity.

Verdict: Should You Buy The C4TS?

And that concludes our review! So, is the Xpelair C4TS worth buying? Yes, I do believe that this extractor fan is well worth purchasing. In our noisy modern world, approximately a third of the British public are affected by a chronic lack of sleep, and more than 1 in 10 of us have reported being woken up or kept awake at night by a noisy extractor fan. We shouldn’t have to choose between a damp-free home and a peaceful night’s sleep – with the Xpelair C4TS, at least you’re more likely to get both.

In some negative customer reviews, consumers have stated that it does not perform as rapidly as expected in high-humidity environments, such as bathrooms or shower rooms without windows. For this reason, the product may be better suited to environments with lower humidity levels where damp is still likely to accumulate, such as cloakrooms, toilets, and kitchens. However, a general rule to keep in mind for smaller axial fans is, the quieter the fan, the less powerful it is, and therefore, the less the extraction rate will be.
