Bathrooms are damp, and naturally one of the most humid spaces in your house. Most of it can be attributed to showers as the water naturally evaporates into the air. Without a window, all that humidity stays trapped inside. It can make it pretty uncomfortable (and sometimes, virtually impossible) to breathe, and it’s very damaging to the porous nature of the paint and drywall inside your bathroom.
Once the air cools down, all those trapped vapours turn back into the water, encouraging mould and fungal growth to take place. Over the long run, these issues can not only cost you a hefty amount of money in repair costs, but also a bunch of allergies and health problems.
Quick Glance
(See on Amazon):If you have a windowless bathroom, it would be best to install an extractor fan into it as soon as possible. It can suck away all the built-up moisture inside your bathroom, driving it all away from the atmosphere in a matter of minutes. You’ll notice the benefits right away, including complete odour control, prevention of mould growth, and little to no rusting or paint peeling (aside from the already-damaged parts).
In this article, we’ve made a list of six of what we believe are the best extractor fans for bathrooms without windows. There’s also a complete buyer’s guide at the end to help you make the right choice, so keep reading!
At the top of our list we have the Manrose MF100T Extractor fan – check out our full review. At max speed, it has an impressive extraction rate of 245 cubic meters per hour (i.e. 68 litres per second) making it extremely efficient for bathrooms without windows. As well as a powerful extraction rate, this fan only uses up 25 watts of power which is pretty economical.
In addition, it produces just 25 decibels of sound (at 3m), and anything under 30 decibels is decently quiet — so you’ll barely hear it running with the bathroom door closed. You are also covered by an excellent warranty of 30,000 hours or 3 years, whichever runs out first. As this fan is so great, it was included on most of our other buyer guides – and at the top as well.
The Envirovent SIL100T is an innovative 100mm domestic axial powerful extractor fan, designed for solving ventilation problems in bathrooms and WCs and therefore perfect for a bathroom without windows. Take a look at our full review for more information.
The SIL100T comes with an adjustable 1 to 30-minute overrun timer, and is fitted with elastic silent blocks that act as a base for the internal motors. This allows the fan to deliver exceptional performance whilst running quietly. This led to this model winning the prestigious Quiet Mark award back in 2013. While the regular finish is a smooth white you can also get it in silver.
The Envirovent SIL100T can be fitted onto walls, ceilings, or even windows. It comes fitted with a pilot light, backdraught shutter, and airflow guide vanes as standard. The fan is made from robust ABS plastic, and can operate efficiently in temperatures of up to 40 degrees C.
The Xpelair C4TS is one of the quietest extractor fans on the market (was number 2 on our list) – check out our full review for more. It is quite simple to install, enabling it to be easily fitted onto walls, as well as ceilings and panels. It features the patented Xpelair Ghost Air Movement Technology and is part of their Simply Silent range of close-to-silent extraction fans.
As well as making much less noise, it features a built-in overrun timer, configurable from 30 seconds up to 30 minutes. It’s finished in a clean white, and the fascia can be removed for easy cleaning and maintenance, which is a great feature to have in a windowless bathroom.
To top this off, the Xpelair C4TS has two speeds, 15l/s and 21/s, allowing for customisation options to suit your application.
The Manrose QF100T is proclaimed by Manrose to be one of the latest domestic extractor fans that features a higher extraction rate than most fans, whilst also producing a low-volume output during extraction. It is the ideal choice for bathrooms, shower rooms and toilets, designed for wall or/and or ceiling mounting, so lots of flexibility.
The Manrose QF100T fan comprises a turning vane system, located in the spigot, which is designed to improve performance by maintaining a consistently higher output. With a noise level of just 27db, Manrose claim that this is over 60% lower than standard 100mm (4″) domestic fans. Be sure to check out our full review for more information.
The Blauberg Calm 100 extractor fan series delivers top airflow extraction rates with low noise outputs, thanks to its unique design. The German-engineered motor by Blauberg is fitted on anti-vibration mounts, and each model comes complete with anti-back draught shutters as standard.
This bathroom extractor fan is incredibly stylish; it comes in a UV-resistant chrome finish, but is also available in multiple colours: chrome, white, black, and red. The humidity sensor on the fan is adjustable from between 60-90% RH, and the overrun timer can be set from 2 minutes up to 30 minutes, after switching off. On top of this you are covered with a 5-year warranty.
Last but not the least, we have the Knightsbridge EX004T to round up this list in style! It consists of stainless steel with black inserts for a striking visual appearance. As if that weren’t enough, it’s also LED-backlit, which means it can add tons of aesthetic value to your bathroom’s interior decor while also getting rid of moisture buildup and steam at a flow rate of 25 litres per second. It also comes in a wide array of styles including: Black, Grey, Stainless Steel, White and more.
It has a built-in overrun timer function that’s adjustable between 2 to 30 minutes and outputs a sound level of 35db. One nifty feature with this fan is that it has a 3hr emergency battery backup, in the event that you lose power. You are covered by a manufacturer warranty of 3 years for peace of mind.
If you’ve already made the smart decision to finally get an extractor fan installed in to your bathroom, then it’s time to get technical. In this buyer’s guide, we’ve laid out everything you need to bear in mind before you hit the market to find a top-quality extractor fan for your windowless bathroom. Make sure you read this guide to the end before finalizing your purchase decision.
First things first, you need to check the air extraction rate of your new extractor fan and see if it’s sufficient for the size of your bathroom. Smaller bathrooms can do just fine with the 54 cubic meters per hour (or 15 litres per second), the minimum requirement in the building regulations. Larger bathrooms, however, need higher extraction rates. Keep in mind though, the bigger your fan, the noisier it generally is!
Related: How long should a bathroom extractor fan stay on for?
You can get extractor fans for your bathrooms in two common sizes, 100mm and 150mm (4-inches and 6-inches). The latter is appropriate for a relatively large bathroom of at least 9 square meters or more, while the 100mm ones are good enough for most average-sized bathrooms in most households. Keep in mind though, the size of your bathroom isn’t the only factor you need to consider when you’re deciding on the right fan size to buy. The usage frequency of the bathroom also matters!
For instance, if it’s a small bathroom that’s shared by a large family, you’ll need a bigger fan to drive out all the moisture build-up and keep it ventilated. If there’s already a hole for an extractor fan in your bathroom, be sure to measure it and find a fan that fits it.
Related: What size extractor fan do I need for my bathroom?
The noise of a residential extractor fan is an important consideration. It’s not a big deal in a commercial setting as the surroundings aren’t exactly quiet anyway, but a noisy domestic fan can definitely keep you up at night — especially if you’re a light sleeper.
We recommend looking for fans that are advertised to make 30 decibels or less worth of noise. If an extractor fan’s quietness is specifically important to you, look for models with silent running ball-bearing motors as they tend to be much less noisy than standard ones.
While you can leave your extractor fan running 24/7 for continuous ventilation, it’d be wasteful and unnecessary, even in a bathroom without any windows. You’d only need to turn it on after using the bathroom to start moving air, and once all the moisture is driven out, you can turn it back off after a few minutes.
Depending on the model you buy, you can do this in a variety of ways. Some come with a pull cord for starting, stopping, and toggling between different rotation speeds. Or, they can simply be hooked up to your switchboard to turn on and off like a light switch.
More innovative and advanced extractor fans can even turn on automatically upon sensing a rise in humidity in the air, and turn off once things are back to normal. But, that feature is only found in highly expensive models which not everybody can afford.
As mentioned above, you don’t have to run an extractor fan 24/7 for optimal results. It only needs to stay on for a few minutes after a visit to the bathroom, which is why some models have a thoughtful timer feature. It automatically turns on once you turn the shower and lights off, and switches off after a few minutes of driving all the steam out.
We found the best extractor fan for a bathroom without windows to be the Manrose MF100T. It has a massive extraction rate of 245 m3/hr making it one of the most powerful bathroom fans available, ensuring that your windowless bathroom will be extracted quickly. Also, it is fairly quiet and out of the way which is ideal for a bathroom with no windows.
Yes, you wouldn’t want all that moisture to travel into another room in your house as that would pose the same problems as mould growth and paint damage. Instead, all that vapour needs to travel out into the open air to avoid those issues altogether.

]]>The Manrose MixFlo 100T is a robust mixed flow fan, that has been designed primarily for applications that might require higher airflow, as well as providing lower sound levels at just 24db(A). Instead of being located directly in the bathroom, this fan sits in the loft or ceiling void above the bathroom and therefore all you would see on the ceiling would be the grill.
The MF100T, as well as any of the MF100 series, can be mounted in a number of different applications and is suitable for use with either flexible or rigid ducting.
To top this off, the Manrose MF100T fan can be ducted from any bathroom zone and can be ducted all the way up to 10 metres without loss of power.
The Manrose MF100T although a quiet fan, has an excellent maximum extraction flow rate of 245m3/hr, approximately 68 litres per second.
There are three different configurable speeds High, Medium and Low, each with varying RPM, Wattage, dB etc, as indicated in the table below. The speed of this fan is set using a jumper and pins found directly under the cover.
This in-line fan runs between 1,700 RPM to 2,400 RPM and the motor runs at a maximum consumption of 25 Watts, depending on the setting you go for (see table above). Although the wattage may seem higher than some other models on the market, you have to remember that this is a very powerful fan. It also has a moderate SFP Efficiency Rate of just 0.37W/l/s, ensuring that this fan runs smoothly and efficiently.
The Manrose MF100T runs at a low noise level of just 24dB at 3 metres on the “High” setting and just 20dB at 3 metres on the “Low” setting. This is incredibly quiet, especially when this is probably the most powerful 100mm extractor fan currently.
This extractor fan was manufactured from top-quality ABS thermoplastics, selected for their long-lasting robustness. This will ensure that the MF100T will work for a very long time. ABS thermoplastic is a great choice for bathroom extractor fans because it is a durable material that can withstand high levels of moisture and humidity.
As the “T” in the model number suggests, this unit features an adjustable timer module. The run-on timer starts from 60 seconds all the way up to 20 minutes. It is easiest to set the overrun timer before you install the fan.
In order to configure it, you need to remove the wiring cover. Next, you need to gently turn the potentiometer until you are happy with the time you have set. It is very sensitive in that just a small twist will greatly affect the timing set.
The MF100T does NOT have a humidity sensor or humidistat, and unfortunately, the use of a humidity sensor is not actually possible with this model. If this is something you are after, you will need to get, instead, the MF100S as well as the Manrose 1361 Remote Humidistat and Timer.
This extractor fan by Manrose features a 3-year warranty or 30,000 hours. They have a dedicated technical support line on their website if you have any questions.
The Manrose MF100T has been reviewed many times by verified customers that have provided genuine feedback. Click below to read the verified customer reviews in order to make an informed decision.

If you’re after a top-rated, moderately priced, in-duct mounted mixed flow fan, with an excellent extraction rate all while running very quietly, then you should definitely consider getting the MF100T.
As this model is incredibly easy to install, it comes as no surprise that this extractor fan at the time of writing has an average of 4.5 stars from lots of reviews online.

]]>The Manrose CF200H follows on from the CF100 range and is another top centrifugal fan. It supplies an even more mighty, vibration-free extraction rate in your application of choice. This model has been designed primarily for applications that would require longer ducting runs.
The CF200H works great against the usual pressures of long ducts as well as any grill resistance. It comes fitted with a built-in back flap in the discharge spigot region to drastically reduce the chance of any backdraughts occurring.
This fan is suitable for bathrooms, utility rooms, cloakrooms, toilets, etc.
The Manrose CF200H has a moderate extraction flow rate of 110m3/hr, around 31 litres per second. While this extractor fan doesn’t have the highest extraction rate out there, this is to be anticipated as this fan’s manufacture was intended for extracting airflow over longer duct runs.
This centrifugal fan by Manrose operates at 1,400 RPM and the motor itself runs at 17 Watts. Although the wattage and RPM are lower than the CF100 series, it has a larger pressure of 120 p.a and will extract a lot more airflow and moisture.
The Manrose CF200H outputs a noise level of around 45dB at 3 metres distance. This is not the low volume fan around but, keep in mind, as mentioned earlier, this is a strong extractor fan and it will get the job done.
This fan was manufactured from durable and high-quality ABS plastics, selected for its long-lasting robustness. It also means cleaning is easier, ensuring that the CF200H will operate well for a great deal of time.
One thing to point out is, via a customer’s comments, is that if you are replacing an existing Manrose extractor fan, the mounting points will likely not be in the same place. In this particular example, the customer was reviewing the Manrose QF100H, which has completely different mounting points than this CF200H model, especially as the CF200H is quite a deal larger than the other models in the series.
On the topic of its size, as seen in the various images on the page, it isn’t a square shape like most other extractor fans, but rather a large rectangular shape. This is important to keep in mind when you are planning its location.
With regard to its motor, it features a single-phase induction motor with bearings that are pre-oiled. This decreases the need for any maintenance while also making sure that it will last much longer.
This run-on timer starts from 1 minute and goes up to 20 minutes. It is usually advisable to configure the overrun timer before you have installed the fan.
In order to set it, ensure that the power is turned off first! Then you need to first take off the wiring cover. Next, insert a small flat-headed screwdriver and gently twist anti-clockwise to increase the time, and clockwise to reduce. Previous customers have commented that it is quite sensitive, so take care when configuring it.
Additionally, as with all Manrose unit numbers, the “H” means this model has a built-in humidistat or humidity sensor. This humidity control is fully adjustable from 40%RH to 90%RH. It is usually advisable to configure the humidistat before you have installed the fan.
In order to set it, ensure that the power is turned off first! Then you need to first take off the wiring cover. Next, insert a small flat-headed screwdriver and gently twist anti-clockwise to increase the time, and clockwise to reduce. Just like the run-on timer, customers have commented that it is sensitive, so take care when adjusting it.

Quiet bathroom extractor fans offer several benefits that contribute to a more comfortable and peaceful bathroom environment.
Here are some of the advantages:
Quiet operation: The primary benefit of silent bathroom extractor fans is their quiet operation. They are specifically designed to operate at low noise levels, minimizing disturbances and creating a tranquil atmosphere in the bathroom – which in my opinion is very important! This is particularly key for sensitive individuals, light sleepers, or bathrooms located near bedrooms.
Enhanced relaxation: The absence of loud noise from the extractor fan allows for a more peaceful and relaxing bathing experience. Whether you enjoy taking long showers or unwinding in the bathtub, a silent extractor fan ensures that the soothing ambience is not disrupted by noise.
Improved privacy: In shared living spaces or bathrooms located close to common areas, silent extractor fans help maintain privacy. They prevent conversations or bathroom noises from being overheard, ensuring a discreet and private environment.
Unobtrusive design: Silent extractor fans are often designed with a sleek and unobtrusive appearance. They seamlessly blend into the bathroom decor and do not draw attention to themselves. This allows for a clean and aesthetically pleasing bathroom space.
Efficient air extraction: While silent, these fans still provide effective air extraction capabilities. They efficiently remove moisture, odours, and pollutants from the bathroom, ensuring good ventilation and maintaining a fresh and clean environment.
Energy efficiency: Many silent extractor fans are designed to be energy-efficient. They consume minimal power while still providing excellent airflow and extraction performance. This not only helps reduce electricity costs but also contributes to environmental sustainability.
Ease of installation: Silent bathroom extractor fans are typically straightforward to install, making them a convenient choice for both new construction and retrofitting projects. Many models come with user-friendly installation instructions and require minimal maintenance.
When selecting a quieter bathroom extractor fan, consider factors such as extraction rate, size, and specific features to ensure it meets the ventilation needs of your bathroom – not just that it is quiet! Consulting with professionals or experts can help you choose the right fan that balances silent operation with efficient performance.

That concludes are guide on our pick of the 8 best silent bathroom extractor fans. While we have picked the Vent-Axia VASF100T as the best quiet fan, all of the silent fans on this list are great fans with lots of great features – and a noise output of under 30dB(A).
As you may have noticed, as well as the top 8, we also ordered the silent bathroom fans into most popular, cheapest, quietest etc. This was because it can still be fairly difficult to pick the right one even when they are shortlisted to just eight. It is about picking the right quiet fan for your needs. With that said, I own the Vent-Axia VASF100T quite simply because it has a super lower sound output of just 12dB!
However keep in mind that, lower decibels means lower power and therefore a lower extraction rate. Most of the lower decibel fans are not the best for more humid enviroments, that require a larger extraction rate.

The Manrose MF100T has a sound output of just 25 decibels at a 3-metre distance, has a power consumption of 25 W, and is ideal for fitting in any room where there is a constant need for air extraction. In my opinion, this is the best 4 inch inline extractor fan with timer and you can’t go wrong.
This high-power extractor fan is suited for fitting in solid or flexible ducting. It’s another one that’s designed for ventilation of applications requiring higher, more powerful airflow. Ideal locations for fitting include toilets, bathrooms, sheds, and workshops.

This fan has a remarkably high-temperature range, capable of running at up to 60 degrees C. The removable impeller and Blauberg motor block with a terminal box are fixed to the casing assembled with the spigots by special clamps with latches. Lastly, it comes with a warranty of 2 years for peace of mind.
This is a quiet, yet powerful, mixed-flow fan that is designed for ducted installations. It’s suitable for removing damp, moist air from bathrooms, en-suites, shower rooms, and other indoor living spaces without windows or natural ventilation.
It operates at high pressure, capable of extracting up to 88 litres per second – or 187 cubic metres per hour – whilst emitting minimal noise. The fan operates at two selectable speeds, and this model is fitted with an adjustable overrun timer. The unique thing about this fan is that it runs with two four-blade fans in series, thus doubling the pressure and enabling stronger air extraction.
In terms of power consumption, the AV100T runs at approximately 21W. It runs quietly, emitting a noise level of just 27 decibels at a 3-metre distance. The fan comes with a 3-year no-quibble guarantee on purchase and has the added benefit of being fuss-free and simple to install.
Another strong, yet soft-sounding, mixed flow fan for use with up to 6 metres ducting. It contains high-performing axial and centrifugal fans technology and is specifically designed for ventilating areas that require high pressure and powerful airflow extraction. It works well for not only bathrooms and kitchens, but also flats, cottages, shops and cafes alike.
The fan has a 2-speed operation and this model comes with an adjustable run-on timer, which can be set from 2 to 30 minutes after switching off. In terms of extraction rate, it has a maximum capacity of 187 cubic metres per hour. To run, the TT-100-T consumes 21W of power and emits a noise level of 27 decibels at a 3-metres.
The sealed-for-life ball bearings within this fan extend the motor service life up to 40,000 hours at non-stop operation, and the motor itself has thermal overheating protection to prevent overload. The product’s only drawback is that it doesn’t have a warranty that extends beyond the statutory right of return period.
The Black Orchid BO-HF Hybrid Flo Extractor fan is one of my favourite inline fans because it comes in such a sleek finish! This fan is unique in that it uses a special “Hybrid-flo” to operate, which combines axial, mixed flow, and centrifugal fan technology. When combined, this results in a much larger, more powerful air extraction. It is designed for use in small rooms, such as bathrooms and kitchens, but can also be used in tents.
Though the fan emits a sound level of only 27 decibels at 3 metres, this can be further reduced by simply using it with a carbon filter in place. The BO-HF-100 is capable of extracting an impressive 68 litres per second, or 245 cubic metres per hour. Unlike the other fans here, this particular model does not feature an adjustable run-on timer, but comes with a 3-pin plug and so can be portable if required.
Also fitted with a Blauberg motor and long-life ball bearings, the fan has a service life of over 40,000 hours of continuous operation. It features a 2-speed switch, enabling the user to select high or low speed. It also comes with the added benefit of an unbeatable Five-Year Black Orchid warranty.
Referred to by Envirovent themselves as the “world’s most silent inline fan range in their class”, the Envirovent SILMV160T is the result of significant technological and economic investment to create an extractor fan that delivers high performance with near-silent running.
It is designed to be used for rooms where residual noise from ventilation is undesired, such as offices, spas, recording studios, or even domestic installations.
The fan is fitted on special elastic silent blocks, and it has a perforated design which directs sound waves into a layer of sound-absorbent material, to further reduce noise emission. It produces a sound level of 24 decibels at 3 metres, and has an extraction rate of 69 litres per second, or 180 cubic metres per hour. It comes with an adjustable run-on timer, and the shut-off time can be delayed between 1 and 30 minutes. Like the Black Orchid BO-HF-100, the Envirovent SILMV100T comes with the added reassurance of a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Inline extractor fans offer several benefits in ventilation systems. Here are some of the key advantages:
Space-saving design: Inline extractor fans are installed using a ducting system, which means they don’t take up valuable space in the room. This makes them an ideal choice for situations where space is limited or aesthetics are a concern.
Efficient ventilation: Inline fans are known for their high-performance ventilation capabilities. They can effectively extract stale air, moisture, odors, and pollutants from the room, ensuring better air quality and a healthier environment.
Noise reduction: Placing the fan inline within the ducting helps to minimize noise transmission into the room. This is especially beneficial in areas where noise control is important, such as bedrooms, libraries, or offices.
Flexibility and customization: Inline extractor fans can be easily integrated into existing or new ducting systems. They offer flexibility in terms of installation location, allowing for optimal positioning to achieve the desired airflow and ventilation efficiency.
Energy efficiency: Many inline extractor fans are designed to be energy-efficient, consuming less power while delivering high-performance ventilation. This can result in energy savings and reduced operating costs over time.
Duct length optimization: By placing the fan inline, it becomes easier to optimize the length and layout of the ducting system. This can help minimize pressure drops, improve airflow distribution, and enhance overall system efficiency.
Remote operation: Some inline extractor fans come with remote control options, allowing convenient operation from a distance. This is particularly useful in hard-to-reach areas or situations where manual control is impractical.
It’s important to keep in mind that depending on the type, brand, and application, the precise advantages and characteristics of inline extractor fans may change. Therefore, it is advised to take into account your unique ventilation needs and speak with manufacturers or experts to select the best inline extractor fan for your requirements.
We found the best inline bathroom extractor fan to be the Manrose MF100T In-duct Extractor Fan. It is one of the most popular inline extractor fans on the market, runs quietly at just 24dB, has a 3-year warranty, features a run-on timer, and more!

Inline fans are quite a bit more powerful than standard axial extractor fans. They are also better because they remove the need to have any electrics in the bathroom, but you will need to have empty or loft space above your bathroom to be able to install an inline fan. It will ultimately depend on what you require at home.
The quietest inline fan on our list is the Fantronix Inline Extractor Fan with Timer. This great inline fan has a Noise Level of just 21dB, making it the quietest inline extractor fan on our list.

]]>The Xpelair C4TS is the quietest intermittent extractor fan on the market. It has a simple installation process, which enables it to be easily fitted onto walls, as well as ceilings and panels. It boasts Xpelair’s Ghost patented Air Movement Technology and is part of their Simply Silent range of near-silent extraction fans.
As well as being extremely quiet and being the quietest intermittent fan available, it features a built-in overrun timer, configurable from 30 seconds up to 30 minutes. It’s coloured in a sleek white finish, and the fascia is removable for easy cleaning and maintenance.
To top this off, the Xpelair C4TS Simply Silent Contour fan has two speeds, 15l/s and 21/s, allowing for customisation options to suit your application.
The Xpelair C4TS has two airflow rate speeds, which are selectable during installation. The options are 15 litres per second at low speed, or 21 litres per second at high speed. When operating at a higher speed, noise level is not affected too much and the extractor remains near-silent.
In order to configure your chosen speed, you simply turn the dial underneath to the desired speed.
In terms of power consumption, the C4TS has an electrical power rating of 6.3 – 7W. The average extractor fan has an electrical power rating of between 5 – 36W, making the Xpelair C4TS highly energy efficient as well as economical to use. Additionally, an integral hour run meter shows exactly how long the fan has been running.
Perhaps the most striking feature of the extraction fan is its near-silent running sound and lack of noise emission. As you may know, when an extraction fan runs, noise is emitted by both the interior motor and the movement of air through the duct. The Xpelair C4TS combats this with the use of the company’s patented Ghost Air Movement Technology: a combination of long-life silent motors and precision-engineered parts to mitigate mechanical noise, with advanced airflow management that removes irregular air flow paths and turbulence.
In terms of design, the fan is sleek and sophisticated. At just 4″/100mm in length, it is small, but powerful. The fascias are finished in cool white and have a square design; this gives the fan a modern look and suits an array of aesthetic preferences.
All of the company’s products are manufactured in a state-of-the-art facility in Great Britain. The C4TS is mainly made from, like other models in Xpelair’s Simply Silent series, high gloss ABS. ABS material is renowned for its high tensile strength and corrosion resistance; this makes the fan both durable and easy to clean.
The Xpelair C4TS Simply Silent Contour fan includes a run-on timer that is fully adjustable when installed. It can be set from 30 seconds to 30 minutes after the unit has been switched off. Alternatively, a pull cord can be fitted to switch the fan on and off on demand. Another option is to opt for the timer and a built-in humidistat to automatically regulate humidity.

The product comes with a two-year warranty on purchase, in addition to a statutory right of return, ensuring that it can be bought with confidence and peace of mind.

And that concludes our review! So, is the Xpelair C4TS worth buying? Yes, I do believe that this extractor fan is well worth purchasing. In our noisy modern world, approximately a third of the British public are affected by a chronic lack of sleep, and more than 1 in 10 of us have reported being woken up or kept awake at night by a noisy extractor fan. We shouldn’t have to choose between a damp-free home and a peaceful night’s sleep – with the Xpelair C4TS, at least you’re more likely to get both.
In some negative customer reviews, consumers have stated that it does not perform as rapidly as expected in high-humidity environments, such as bathrooms or shower rooms without windows. For this reason, the product may be better suited to environments with lower humidity levels where damp is still likely to accumulate, such as cloakrooms, toilets, and kitchens. However, a general rule to keep in mind for smaller axial fans is, the quieter the fan, the less powerful it is, and therefore, the less the extraction rate will be.
If you like this fan, you should also check out our full Xpelair C4TR review. This one is very similar to the C4TS but it’s round.

]]>The Manrose MixFlo 100S is the first of the MixFlo series. This mixed flow fan was mainly designed for higher airflow applications where you might prefer a quieter sound. Where most bathroom extractor fans are located inside the bathroom, the MF100S is installed in the loft or ceiling void above, meaning there are no electrics in the bathroom.
The MF100S, including all of the MF100 series, can be mounted in a variety of applications and is appropriate for flexible or rigid ducting.
To make things even better, the Manrose MF100S fan can be ducted from any electrical bathroom zone and can be ducted all the way up to 10 metres without any loss of power.
The Manrose MF100S has a superior maximum extraction flow rate of 245m3/hr, which is around 68 litres per second. MF stands for “Mixed Flow” which describes the combination the airflow technology both an axial and centrifugal impeller.
This speed will depend upon which setting you choose; H (High), M (Medium) and L (Low). The speed of this fan is set using a jumper and pins found underneath the cover.
Depending on the mode you select, this inline duct fan runs from 1,700 RPM up to 2,400 RPM, and the motor runs at a maximum consumption rate of 25 Watts. Even though the wattage might seem higher than some other extractor fans on the market, it is important to note that this is a very powerful fan. It also has a decent SFP Efficiency Rate of 0.37W/l/s, ensuring that this extractor runs smoothly and efficiently.
The Manrose MF100S outputs a very low sound of just 24dB at 3m on the “H” setting, and just 20dB at 3 metres on the “L” setting. This is incredibly quiet, especially for such a powerful extractor fan.
This extractor fan was manufactured from quality ABS thermoplastics, chosen for their long-lasting strength. This will ensure that the MF100S will run efficiently for a very long time to come.
This model does not have a run-on timer feature. If this is something you’re after, you should go for the Manrose MF100T.
The MF100S does NOT have a humidity sensor or humidistat, unfortunately. If this is something you want, you will need to get the Manrose 1361 Remote Humidistat & Timer as well.
This extractor fan by Manrose features a 3-year warranty or 30,000 hours. They have a dedicated technical support line on their website if you have any questions.

]]>Included in this guide (scroll):
Extractor fans are great but in order to get the job done, they need to be fairly powerful. When we say most powerful, we mean the extractor fan with the highest extraction rate. More powerful bathroom fans are chosen usually because your application requires it – whether this is because of high humidity, lots of moisture build-up or the size of the room itself is quite large.
I have put together this list of the most powerful bathroom extractor fans so that you can simply select the one you want – with ease. Below is a quick glance at the top powerful bathroom extractor fans, sorted into several categories.
Quick Glance
(See on Amazon):In order to create this guide, I have looked at every single one of the best powerful extractor fans I could find on the internet. Next, I scrutinised their reviews and identified the 6 most powerful fans online! What these all had in common was great reviews, a high review score, solid features, excellent specs, and a decent price point – and most importantly, they were all incredibly powerful fans with massive extraction rates. The powerful bathroom extractor fans are ordered from the highest extraction rate to the lowest loudest.
At the top of our list we have the Manrose MF100T Extractor fan – check out our full review. The Manrose MF100T is a powerful mixed-flow fan, that was created to output higher pressures for rooms and applications that require higher airflow, as well as a lower noise level.
This model by Manrose comes with a built-in overrun timer, which is fully adjustable from 1 up to 20 minutes. It contains high-quality ball bearings and long-life motors, complete with a 3-year or 30,000-hour warranty.
It boasts an impressive extraction rate of 68 litres per second, or 245 cubic metres per hour – which is one of the highest extraction rates you’d usually see in a bathroom fan. Though it has relatively high power consumption, it’s an extremely powerful fan and is also very quiet. The Manrose MF100T has a sound output of just 25dB(A), has a power consumption of 25 W, and is suitable for installation in any application that requires a higher or constant need for air extraction. Ensuring large volumes of air are expelled in just a short time.
Next, we have the Black Orchid BO-HF Hybrid Flo Extractor fan, which is one of my favourite powerful fans because it comes in such a contemporary finish! This fan is unusual in that it uses a special “Hybrid-flo” system to operate. This combines axial, centrifugal fan, and mixed flow technology, and when combined, results in a much larger, more powerful extraction rate.
Although this model outputs a noise level of just 27 decibels at 3 metres, the BO-HF-100 is capable of extracting an impressive 245 cubic metres per hour, or 68 litres per second. Unlike several of the other fans listed, this model, unfortunately, doesn’t feature an adjustable overrun timer.
In addition, this model is fitted with a Blauberg motor and long-life ball bearings, give the BO-HF a service life of over 40,000 hours of continuous operation. It features 2 speeds, activated via the switch, enabling high or low speed. It also comes with the added benefit of an unbeatable Five-Year Black Orchid warranty.
The Fantronix TUBE-T-100 Bathroom Extractor Fan is a high-power extractor fan that is suited for installation in solid or flexible ducting. Ideal locations for fitting include toilets, bathrooms, sheds, and workshops.
The TUBE-100-T has a hefty extraction rate of 187 cubic metres per hour. It runs on a 33W motor, has an impressive RPM of between 2180 – 2385, and maintains a 36-decibel sound level (at a 3-metres). It contains a configurable run-on timer, which can be configured from 2 to 30 minutes.
This fan has a remarkably high-temperature range, being capable of working up to 60°. The removable impeller and Blauberg motor block with a terminal box are fixed to the casing assembled with the spigots by special clamps with latches. Finally, it comes with a 2-year warranty for peace of mind.
The Airflow AV100T Aventa Extractor Fan is a quiet, yet powerful fan that is designed for ducted installations. It’s ideal for ousting damp and moisture from bathrooms, en-suites, shower rooms, and other applications requiring stronger ventilation.
It provides a high extraction rate, capable of extracting up to 187 cubic metres per hour, or up to 52 litres per second. The fan operates at two selectable speeds (high and low) and is fitted with an adjustable run-on timer. The special thing about this extractor fan is that it operates two four-blade fans in series, therefore doubling the pressure and enabling a stronger airflow extraction.
In terms of its power consumption, the Airflow AV100T runs at around 21W. It runs quietly, emitting a low noise level of just 27 dB(A). This unit comes with a 3-year warranty.
Another strong, yet low-noise bathroom extractor fan is the VENTS TT 100. It contains mixed flow technology (axial and centrifugal) and is specifically designed for ventilating areas that require higher airflow extraction. It works great for bathrooms, kitchens, flats, shower rooms, cottages, shops etc.
Like most of the fans on this list, this fan also has a 2-speed operation and comes with an overrun timer, which is configurable from 2 to 30 minutes. In terms of its extraction rate, it extracts around 187 cubic metres per hour. To run the TT-100-T it consumes 21W and emits a sound level of 27 decibels (at 3-metres).
The ball bearings within this fan are sealed-for-life and therefore extend the motor service life for up to 40,000 hours. The motor itself has thermal overheating protection to prevent any overload or malfunction. The product’s only drawback is that it doesn’t have a warranty that extends beyond the statutory right of return period.
The Envirovent SILMV160T has been cited as the “world’s most silent inline fan range in their class” by the manufacturer. It is designed to be used for areas where quieter ventilation is required, such as offices, spas, recording studios, or even large domestic applications. This unit is fitted on special elastic silent blocks, and it has a unique design that directs sound waves into a layer of sound-absorbent material, to further reduce noise.
It produces a sound level of just 24 dB at 3 metres and has an extraction rate of 180 cubic metres per hour. Furthermore, this model features a run-on timer, and the shut-off time can be delayed between 1 and 30 minutes. Just like Black Orchid’s BO-HF-100, the Envirovent SILMV100T comes with a lengthy 5-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Powerful bathroom extractor fans offer several benefits in terms of ventilation and air quality.
Here are some of the key advantages:
Effective moisture removal: Powerful bathroom extractor fans are designed to quickly and efficiently remove moisture from the bathroom. This helps to prevent the build-up of condensation, which can lead to mould, mildew, and damage to walls, ceilings, and fixtures. By reducing moisture, powerful extractor fans contribute to a drier and healthier bathroom environment.
Improved air circulation: A powerful extractor fan will also promote better air circulation in your bathroom. It helps to remove stagnant air, odours, and pollutants, replacing them with fresh outdoor air. This results in a more comfortable and pleasant atmosphere, which we can all agree is important in a bathroom.
Reduced humidity: High humidity levels in the bathroom can cause discomfort and create an ideal breeding ground for mould and bacteria. Powerful extractor fans are effective at reducing humidity levels by expelling moist air and bringing in fresh air from outside.
Odour elimination: Bathroom odours can be unpleasant and linger in the air, unfortunately. A powerful extractor fan helps to quickly remove odours, improving the overall freshness of your bathroom. This is especially beneficial in shared or small bathrooms.
Quick ventilation: Powerful extractor fans are known to have a higher extraction rate, allowing them to quickly exchange the air in the bathroom. This is particularly useful after using the shower or bath when there is a significant release of moisture and steam.
Reduced condensation on surfaces: By efficiently removing moisture and steam, powerful extractor fans also help to minimize condensation on mirrors, windows, and other surfaces in the bathroom. This makes it easier to maintain a clear view and reduces the need for frequent wiping or cleaning.
Improved air quality: With their strong extraction power, powerful bathroom extractor fans contribute to better indoor air quality by removing pollutants, allergens, and potential contaminants. This can be especially beneficial for individuals with respiratory conditions or allergies, like asthma, for example.
While they have their benefits, it’s important to choose a powerful extractor fan that is appropriate for the size of your bathroom and meets the necessary ventilation requirements.
The most powerful extractor fan for a bathroom currently is the Manrose MF100T. It has a massive extraction rate of 245 m3/hr making it one of the most powerful 4-inch bathroom fans available. There are some other extraction fans with the same or similar extraction rates but they are nowhere near as popular, making the MF100T truly deserving of this top spot.

According to the Building Regulations, a bathroom fan needs to have an extractor rate of at least 15 l/s. Most bathroom fans more than exceed this as you may have noticed from our list. Ultimately, it all depends upon your application, how big the room is, how big an extraction rate you need etc.
Related: Extractor Fan Extraction Rate Calculator
Buying an extractor fan that is too strong is a waste of money. Most extractor fans on the market that are designed for bathrooms will be more than suitable. However, if you have a smaller bathroom and a very powerful fan, even though the cost to run an extractor fan is inexpensive, it will mean you are wasting electricity and money.
On average, a bathroom extractor fan uses between 4 and 38 watts of electricity, depending on the model, which is very low in comparison to other appliances like a light bulb, for example.
There are many different types of powerful bathroom fans on the market. The inline fan, which is mounted in the ceiling or attic and connected to a vent in the bathroom, is one of the most well-liked models. These fans are strong and effective since they move a lot of air and immediately lower humidity levels. A wall-mounted fan is another style; it is installed directly on the wall and has a built-in duct to exhaust air outside. These fans are perfect for restrooms with little room above the vanity. There are also combo fans that have built-in lights and heaters, offering warmth and ventilation. The most common type is the axial fan but they are usually not very powerful. In the end, the kind of strong bathroom fan you select will rely on your unique requirements and tastes.
And there you have it. Six of the most powerful extractor fans on the market. While we have picked the MF100T as our top powerful bathroom extractor fan, all of the other fans on this list are excellent, extremely powerful bathroom fans, with lots of great features. As you may have noticed, as well as these top 6, we also sorted them into most popular, cheapest, quietest, etc. This was because it can still be fairly difficult to pick the right one even when they are shortlisted to just six.
One thing to keep in mind is that, if the extractor fan is more powerful, it will also, of course, be noisier. Fortunately, most if not all of the top powerful bathroom fans are inline fans which therefore provide a quieter running noise, as they are typically installed in the loft or wall cavity, further away from the bathroom.

]]>The post Manrose QF100H Review appeared first on Extractors Fan.
]]>The Manrose Quiet Fan 100H is declared by the manufacturer to be a current top domestic extractor fan that comprises a higher extraction rate, whilst also simultaneously outputting a very low decibel sound while it is running. It is the ideal choice for bathrooms, showers and toilets and is designed for wall mounting and ceiling mounting.
To make things even better, the Manrose QF100H fan includes a turning vane system, located in the spigot, which is designed to improve its overall running performance by retaining a continuously high output.
The Manrose QF100H while it runs quietly, has an excellent extractor rate of 75m3/hr, which is roughly 21 (20.8) litres per second. Compared to the standard axial fan available, this is pretty good.
Although this fan runs at a fairly decent speed of 2,300 r.p.m, this fan contains a low energy-consuming motor with a maximum consumption of 4.8 Watts. It also has a low SFP of just 0.24W/l/s, ensuring that this fan runs efficiently.
The Manrose QF100H runs at a low decibel level of just 27dB at 3 metres. The manufacturer has cited that this is over a 60% reduction in comparison to the standard 4-inch 100mm domestic extractor fans available on the market today.
This extractor fan was created using top-quality ABS thermoplastics, chosen for their robust strength and durableness. This will ensure that the QF100H will last for a long time in your bathroom or shower room.
Just like the QF100T, this unit features a timer module that is adjustable. The run-on timer starts from 60 seconds and goes all the way up to 20 minutes. It is advisable that you configure the overrun timer before you install the fan, as it is easier to do so.
In order to set it to your desired time, the overrun time regulator itself has a small opening for a screwdriver. Because it is located at the top of the unit, if you wish to change the setting after installation, you can remove the front cover – there are small caps that cover the screw heads that some customers find easy to miss. Simply twist gently until you reach the timing of your choice.
As well as the timer control, the QF100H also features a humidistat, which is adjustable from 40% RH to 95% RH. Having a humidistat is perfect for those that find their bathroom or shower is quite humid for long periods of time.
